California’s Gay Marriage Ban Overturned by Courts

A federal appeals court has killed California’s infamous Proposition 8, the ban on same-sex marriage that’s been in place since 2008. The decision prepares the way for the U.S. Supreme Court to decide on gay marriage next year. The court stated that,
Proposition 8 served no purpose, and had no effect, other than to lessen the status and human dignity of gays and lesbians in California.
